The car 15T (reg. no. 9201-9450) is the three sectional 100% low-floor tram-way. Under the fronts and transition joints of the car there are four drive bogies with independent drive of each wheel. The drive bogie (four engines) forms a separate motor group. Individual sections of the tram have got welded frames, the fronts are laminated with metal frames, windows and glasses are glued to the body and windows have ventilation flaps. The floor is situated at the height of 350 mm (450 mm on bogies). The majority of the power electrical equipment is located on the roof of the car. On the first section there is an attached electrically operated pantograph, lightning arrester, speed-switch, instrument cabinet with knife disconnecting switch - earthing switch and fuses. The traction inverters with braking resistors are on the first section, two on the second section and one on the third section. For the supply of network drives 3x400 V AC, 50 Hz the static converter on the third section is used. The converter includes charging (the battery is on the third section in a separate box). Bogies placed under fronts of outer sections enabled to solve these fronts in the width without narrowing the body; they do not turn aside in the curves unlike KT or PLF cars. The tram has a single-wing door for the driver and six double-wing doors for passengers.

The car has two types of bogies: front (at the beginning of the front section and at the end of the rear section) and inter-sectional ones under covering bellows between individual sections. Each wheel is driven by its own synchronous motor with permanent magnets. The car has no axles, each wheel has its own short axle which enables the vehicle to pass curves without longitudinal slips.

The car has air conditioning for the driver, camera system and hand controller for car driving. The driver's cab is separated from the salon for passengers with a semi-transparent partition with the door.
The passenger compartment is fully low-floor with the floor height of between 350 mm and 450 mm above the rail level. Height differences are settled by sloping ramps. The plywood 2 + 1 seats are in the car placed laterally, mostly in the direction of travel.


Škoda 15T (trade name ForCity) is the vehicle manufactured by Škoda Transportation (to be) delivered to DP from 2005 to 2018. At the car submission and design experiences with type 14T in Prague have been taken into account. The design of the 15 tram has been designed by the architect Patrik Kotas. DP chose the proposal of Škoda 15T in 2005 in the tendering procedure for the supply of 250 new trams. The prototype of the 15T tram was shipped on 5 March 5, 2009 from the manufacturing facility of Škoda to the Plzeň Slovany depot under no. 115. The car set out for its first city journey in the night from the 16 to 17 March 2009 and the first day-light test run took place on 18 March. On the night from 14 to 15 June the car was transported on a low loader to Prague. After recovery and tests the prototype of the 15T tram was put into trial operation without passengers on 24 July 2009 and it has been awarded the registration number 9200. In September 2009 the tram was exhibited at the International Engineering Fair in Brno, where it won the Golden MSV Medal. It was transported from (?) Prague on 19 December, 2009; the deployment and execution of equipment is different from production series vehicles specified by the operator at the factory.

The first series production car 9201 was put into trial operation with passengers on 5 October 2010 and on 5 February 2011 it rolled into normal operation. Dopravní podnik hlavního města Prahy now buys more cars from the serial production whereas the deliveries are about to take place by 2018.
